Prior to the announcement of winners, 36 finalists, comprising 18 pairs of Abang and None, participated in a question-and-answer round conducted by the host to compete for a place in the top eight. The jury, composed of various experts, evaluated the finalists’ responses.
Judges included Hariyadi Sukamdani (tourism), Ayu Dyah Pasha (ethics and personality), Rose Mini Agoes (psychology), Beky Mardani (Betawi culture), and Sri Haryati, Assistant for Economy and Finance from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (government). Other judges included Andy Rachmianto (international relations), Joshua Simandjuntak (creative economy), Fifi Aleyda Yahya (public speaking and foreign languages), and a representative from Poppy Dharsono (fashion).
From the top eight, three pairs of Abang and None were selected for a final question round by Heru Budi Hartono, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, and Mirdiyanti, the Acting Chairperson of the National Crafts Council of DKI Jakarta. Heru inquired about the role of Abang Jakarta in supporting the city’s development as a global metropolis, while Mirdiyanti focused on strategies for None to engage the youth with traditional crafts and Jakarta's creative economy.
Evaluations for the finalists took place from August 30 until September 20. Heru highlighted that the Abang None Jakarta 2024 selection aims to empower the youth to express their aspirations and perspectives regarding the city.
Moreover, the Abang None Jakarta event seeks to preserve Betawi culture and serves as a platform for developing the talents, creativity, and intelligence of the youth to promote Jakarta to both domestic and international tourists.
