A 15-year-old from Indonesia just did something no one from this country has ever done: he won the WSK Euro Series. Not a regional heat. Not a support race. The actual title  one of the most competitive karting championships on the planet.

At a glance:

  • Winner: Qarrar Firhand, 15, Ward Racing
  • Where: Cremona Circuit, San Martino del Lago, Italy  Saturday, July 11, 2026
  • Field size: 280 racers from 50 countries
  • Category: OK (Original Karting)
  • Fastest lap: 47.600 seconds

Who, what, where, when, how: Qarrar Firhand is a 15-year-old Indonesian karting driver racing for Italy-based Ward Racing, sponsored by Pertamina, Simpati, and BRI. On July 11, 2026, he clinched the OK category title at the WSK Euro Series 2026, the final round held at Cremona Circuit in northern Italy. He's the first Indonesian in the championship's history to win it  full stop. The moment he won the prefinal race, the title was already mathematically his, before the final race even started.

How Did Qarrar Firhand Win the WSK EURO Series 2026?

He didn't back into it. Qarrar took pole position in qualifying with a 47.900-second lap, then won every single heat race across the weekend. He followed that with a prefinal win — the result that locked in the championship on points, regardless of what happened next.

In the final race, British driver Henri Domain pulled off a chicane overtake on lap two and took the lead. Qarrar chased him to the finish line, aware the title was already secure, and crossed second  just 0.366 seconds behind. He still walked away with the fastest lap of the race. Pole, every heat, the prefinal, a podium finish, and the fastest lap of the weekend: that's a near-perfect scorecard against 280 competitors from 50 countries.

"I'm really proud to close out my karting journey with the WSK Euro Series title. The final race was intense, and I loved every second of that fight. This one's for Indonesia," Qarrar said after the race, thanking Ward Racing, his family, sponsors, and everyone back home.

What Happens Next for Qarrar Firhand?
This win doubles as a goodbye. Qarrar is closing his international karting career with this title and moving straight into single-seater racing. He's set to debut in the British Formula 4 Championship at the end of July 2026  a jump from go-karts to open-wheel formula cars, the traditional ladder toward Formula 1.

Here's the detail most people miss: 2026 marks the third year Pertamina has backed Qarrar's international racing career, alongside other 2026 commitments like the FIA Euro Karting Championship and ROK Cup Italia. Indonesia hasn't had serious motorsport infrastructure funding a young driver like this before  and it's starting to show results.
