Wellah Hatta is an Indonesian stage manager who served as Senior Stage Manager for the ceremonies at the FIFA World Cup 2026, working with Italian production house Balich Wonder Studio. Over roughly three months, she ran the Opening Ceremony at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, the United States' 250th Independence Day pre-match ceremony in Philadelphia, and the Closing Ceremony at MetLife Stadium in New York–New Jersey  the same night Spain beat Argentina 1-0 in the final. Her job: keep every performer, dancer, camera cue, and lighting change running on schedule, without ever appearing on screen herself.

The two crossed paths on the field during rehearsals ahead of the Closing Ceremony, where Cruise made an appearance. Wellah later posted about wrapping the run on her own Instagram, @wellahhatta:

"Three ceremonies done back to back! It's been so much fun!"

She also described Cruise as unexpectedly down-to-earth, telling her followers he was the one who insisted a crew member take their photo and make sure it reached her — since she didn't have her own phone on the field that day. That small gesture is what turned Wellah's story into a five-day viral moment across Indonesian social media, from Instagram fan pages to national news outlets.
