LYODRA, AMORA LEMOS, AND SILET OPEN UP JUST MADE INDONESIA'S OWN VERSION OF THE MOANA SOUNDTRACK
Three artists who've never shared a stage now share one song and one of them slipped his own regional dialect straight into a Disney soundtrack.
Picture three singers who've never worked together, suddenly asked to carry one song for a film opening worldwide on the same day. That's exactly what happened to Lyodra, Amora Lemos, and Silet Open Up this week.
Disney Indonesia officially announced that the trio recorded "Sepanjang Jalan," the Indonesian-language version of "Along the Way" one of the key soundtrack songs from Disney's Moana Live Action. The track has been streaming on all digital platforms since July 3, 2026, just five days before the film opens in Indonesian theaters on July 8, 2026.
At a glance:
- Song title: "Sepanjang Jalan" (Indonesian adaptation of "Along the Way")
- Digital release: July 3, 2026
- Indonesian theatrical release: July 8, 2026
- Artists: Lyodra, Amora Lemos, Silet Open Up
- Music production: Mark Mancina; songwriting: Lin-Manuel Miranda
In the international version, "Along the Way" is performed by Auli'i Cravalho, Catherine Laga'aia, and Dwayne Johnson. In the Indonesian version, Lyodra takes on Auli'i Cravalho's part who also voiced Moana in the animated film and serves as executive producer on the live action. Amora Lemos sings Catherine Laga'aia's part, the actress playing Moana on screen. Silet Open Up covers Dwayne Johnson's section as the voice behind Maui.
Who's Behind the Indonesian Version of the Moana Live Action Soundtrack?
This isn't Lyodra's first Disney collaboration. She previously recorded "Jauh di Sana," the local version of "Beyond," for Moana 2. But she says this project feels different.
"It feels even more real because this time I'm singing for the live-action version. The song is also more upbeat and gave me a new experience after singing something more ballad-like before," Lyodra said.
The most interesting detail comes from Silet Open Up. The musician, who hails from Eastern Indonesia, was given creative room to fold in lyrical touches specific to his home region not a straight translation from English, but a cultural remix woven into Moana's story.
Why Does Disney Keep Partnering With Local Indonesian Musicians?
This isn't a one-off move it's a consistent strategy for Disney across Southeast Asia. According to Allie Benedicto, Integrated Marketing Director for Emerging Southeast Asia at The Walt Disney Company, these collaborations are about connecting a universal story to local voices, not just dubbing dialogue.
For Amora Lemos, it's also personal. She's said she'd admired the character of Moana for years before finally getting the chance to sing her part.
A fact most viewers don't realize: Moana's music has been written by the same trio since the very first film Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Fo'ai, and Mark Mancina. So even when the lyrics get adapted into another language, the musical DNA is tightly guarded from Hollywood down.
How Long Until Moana Live Action Opens in Indonesia?
The film opens in Indonesian theaters on July 8, 2026 just five days after "Sepanjang Jalan" was officially released.
