LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR LP780-4 ULTIMAE: THE LAST V12 ENGINE
The Aventador's legendary V12 engine ends here. Targeted by sports car collectors because they are limited.
Remember our article about, "Why the Lamborghini Aventador Deserves To Be Your Dream Car?" some time ago? Now there's an additional reason why you should make this Aventador your immediate possession.
Lamborghini has just introduced the Aventador 780-4 Ultimae to celebrate their iconic V12 engine. The Italian brand also announced that this twelve-cylinder engine would be the last to be produced.
This new Aventador incorporates all the elements of their fastest models, such as the Aventador S and SVJ. The design is dynamic and is sure to be a collector's item because it is made in limited quantities.
So what's so special about this latest Aventador? Let's talk about the engine first. This 6.5-litre 12-cylinder engine produces 769 HP, 39 HP more powerful than the Aventador S. This engine feels superior with the Aventador four-wheel-drive that has evolved over the last 10 years.
This latest Aventador still uses a monocoque carbon fibre frame that makes it rigid and lightweight only 1,550 kilograms. This lightweight makes the Aventador capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 km per hour in just 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 355 km per hour.
The LP 780-4 Ultimae's design adopts a specific front bumper concept for the increased aero load on the front, with longitudinal performance similar to the Aventador SVJ. The ESC (Electric Stability Control) is calibrated for fast, precise traction control and vehicle dynamics, recognising and adapting to differences in grip, including on low-grip surfaces such as snow and ice. The systems are managed by Lamborghini Dinamica Veicolo Attiva (LDVA) that processes precise, real-time information on body motion via sensors, thus defining the best response of all active systems to deliver the best vehicle dynamics in every condition.
Delivering state-of-the-art aerodynamic performance, the front splitter and open 'mouth' of the LP 780-4 additional direct airflow to optimise aerodynamic efficiency, engine, and radiator cooling. The front bumper’s air ducts and side cooling inlet reduce aerodynamic interference from the front tires and optimise wake flow to the rear radiator. The Ultimae’s lightweight rear bumper completes the dynamic exterior and celebrates the SVJ’s track-oriented heritage.
The active aero system's rear wing moves into three positions–closed, 'maximum performance' and 'maximum handling'–dependent on speed and the drive mode selected, optimizing the car's overall balance and working with vortex generators created in the front and rear of the chassis' underside to maximise air flow and assist with brake cooling. Transmission via Lamborghini's lightweight Independent Shifting Rod (ISR) 7-speed shifting system provides robotized gearshifts in up to 50 milliseconds.
The Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae's drive modes allow the pilot to select not only STRADA, SPORT, and CORSA dynamic options, but in EGO mode choose their own parameters for the optimum set-up of the #lamborghini active suspension (LMS), traction controls ( engine, gearbox and four-wheel drive) as well as steering.
Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae limited 350 units of the coupes and 250 units of the roadster. As the latest edition of the V12 engine, the LP 80-4 will carry the silhouette designs of previous Lamborghinis, such as the Countach, Diablo, and Murcielago. Carbon fibre details are given to the rear diffuser, roof, and front splitter.
The interior uses black leather and Alcantara. Another detail is the trim and stitching that gives a premium, dynamic and sporty impression. Embroidery "Ultimae" is given to the seats, and special edition numbers from 001 to 350/250 are present on the A-pillar of the dashboard.
The driver and passenger environment is just as refined: the customisable TFT digital dashboard displays driver modes and controls in-car connectivity. Apple CarPlay manages voice-activated communications and entertainment, with the Lamborghini telemetry system available as an option for those wanting to celebrate the last Aventador on track.
The wheels are 20-inch, and 21-inch forged alloys in copper, black and titanium finishes wrapped in Pirelli PZero Corsa performance tires.
The Lamborghini Aventador LP 780-4 is now available to order on the Lamborghini network in various parts of the world. The targeted markets include China, South Korea, Vietnam, Brazil, and Chile.
