That's how Indonesia's national women's football team spent Wednesday night in Kuala Lumpur  and it's the kind of scoreline that makes rival federations nervous heading into 2027.

The Indonesian women's national team won the AFF Women's Cup 2026 on Wednesday, July 22, defeating Laos 5-0 in the final at Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Malaysia. The win, Indonesia's second straight AFF Women's Cup title after 2024, secured the team a spot in the 2027 ASEAN Women's Championship alongside runner-up Laos and third-placed Singapore.

Indonesia broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute through Sydney Hopper, who pounced on a scramble inside the box after a Felicia de Zeeuw corner. The goal held up through halftime, but the real damage came after the break.

Isabelle Nottet made it 2-0 in the 48th minute. Eight minutes later, Estella Loupatty added a third. By the 68th minute, De Zeeuw had scored herself, curling a shot in from outside the penalty area. Emily Nahon closed out the rout in the 84th minute with a composed finish inside the box.

Coach Satoru Mochizuki, who also led the squad to the 2024 title, fielded his strongest available lineup, including Nottet and Loupatty. Goalkeeper Laila Masykuroh started despite an early passing error that nearly gifted Laos an opener  a mistake the team simply outscored.

"Congratulations to Indonesia's women's football team for becoming AFF Women's Cup 2026 champions  this is an achievement the nation can be proud of," said Marciano Norman, Chairman of Indonesia's National Sports Committee (KONI), following the win.

Winning in 2024 could have been a one-off. Winning again in 2026, by an even wider margin, is a pattern  and patterns are what regional rivals like Vietnam, Thailand, and the Philippines actually have to plan around.

The squad also skews young, with several players in their early twenties and a roster blending Indonesia-based talent with diaspora players like Nahon, De Zeeuw, and van de Pol. That mix has become the team's signature under Mochizuki: technical depth on the wings, physical presence at the back, and a passing game that doesn't rely on one standout individual to function.

The title also comes with a concrete reward: automatic qualification for the 2027 ASEAN Women's Championship, the region's top-tier competition, where Indonesia will now measure itself against stronger opposition than the AFF Women's Cup provides.

Who Won the Individual Awards at AFF Women's Cup 2026?
Two Indonesian players picked up individual honors at the tournament. Goalkeeper Laila Masykuroh was named Best Goalkeeper, and forward Sheva Furyzcha received the Most Valuable Player award  recognition that reflects how central both were to Indonesia's run through the knockout stage, not just the final.
