Indonesia is ramping up efforts to host the 10th World Water Forum (WWF), scheduled to take place from May 18–25 in Bali, as announced by Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Speaking on the sidelines of a coordination meeting in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Saturday, Minister Luhut expressed satisfaction with the progress of preparations. "The preparations have gone well until today," he remarked.

The meeting, attended by various stakeholders, focused on crucial aspects such as security arrangements, disaster mitigation strategies, and the readiness of medical facilities to ensure a smooth and successful forum.

Ministers from 193 countries are anticipated to participate in the WWF forum, aiming to deliberate on the vital role of water in promoting global welfare. "Water scarcity is a looming challenge for the world in the future; hence, this forum holds immense significance," emphasized Minister Luhut, highlighting the urgency of addressing water-related issues.

Aside from the formal discussions, several ancillary activities are planned to enrich the forum's agenda, aiming to foster broader engagement and collaboration among participants.

The coordination meeting witnessed the presence of eminent figures including Chief of the National Police (Polri), Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo; Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), General Agus Subiyanto; and Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, underlining the collective commitment towards ensuring the success of the event.

Also in attendance were Head of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Dwikorita Karnawati, and Acting Bali Governor Sang Made Mahendra Jaya, reflecting the collaborative efforts between national and local authorities in facilitating the forum.

The World Water Forum serves as a crucial platform for dialogue and cooperation among various stakeholders including governments, academia, multilateral institutions, NGOs, and industries, in addressing pressing water-related challenges.

"This upcoming forum holds particular significance as it marks the last international event in Indonesia under President Joko Widodo's tenure. We aim to ensure that he cherishes memorable moments from this significant agenda," Minister Luhut concluded, underscoring the importance of hosting a successful and impactful event.

As Indonesia gears up to host this pivotal global event, anticipation grows for meaningful deliberations and collaborative efforts towards sustainable water management and security, crucial for the well-being of present and future generations.
