After previously only showing a mystery image, Honda finally presented the NSX Type S in its entirety. The car that was present to commemorate the last year of NSX production was only limited to 350 units with 300 units for consumers in the United States.

The last NSX global debut was made at Monterey Car Week, United States. The model, known as the Acura NSX in America, was made at the Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio.

“NSX is an incredible success story for Acura, leading the reestablishment of Acura as a performance brand and setting the stage for the return of Type S,” said Jon Ikeda, Vice President and Acura Brand Officer. "We're a company of enthusiasts, and we're already investigating what the next generation of sports cars should be in the coming electrified era."

As a supercar, the NSX Type S offers a more powerful engine than the standard type. The engine is still the same: the 3.5-liter Twin Turbo Aluminum Alloy 74 Degree V6 hybrid with a 9-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. This engine can produce 600 hp and 492 Nm of peak torque, 27 hp and 16 Nm more potent than the standard engine.

The new feature accompanying this wild machine is the all-new Rapid Downshift Mode which makes the driver drive aggressively when downshifting faster. In addition, Sport, Sport + and Track Mode modes are presented for a sportier driving experience and Quiet mode for driving an electric vehicle experience that has minimal engine noise.

The NSX Type S is also offered with a lightweight package, using lightweight carbon fibre materials to cut weight up to 26.2 kilograms. This package includes the use of carbon-ceramic brakes, carbon engine cover, and carbon interior trim.

This supercar also uses a new five-spoke rim design with a choice of Matte Shark Gray or Gloss Berlina Black colors. The use of these rims makes the appearance of the NSX Type S more sporty.

Braking comes from a six-piston Brembo at the front and four-piston at the rear. Tires are paired with special tires developed by Pirelli, namely the P-Zero with sizes 245/35ZR19 at the front and 305/30ZR20 at the end.

Dramatic and aggressive, the new design of NSX Type S remains rooted in the fundamental principles of Total Airflow Management that has guided NSX design from the outset. With its larger, more angular air intakes, the new nose and the rear end's larger diffuser work together for enhanced high-speed stability. The new shape of its carbon fibre front spoiler minimizes front aerodynamic lift by directing airflow under the car.

To help cool the more powerful engine, a larger front grille opening allows more air to reach the radiators, while four additional slots, two on each side, route air to a sub-radiator behind each corner of the front bumper. The outermost air intakes also pass air through to the side of the car, working with the redesigned front corners to create an air curtain. This reduces the wake along the side of the vehicle, improving airflow to the side-mounted air intakes for the intercoolers.

Air exiting the car's rear is routed through a new, larger carbon fibre diffuser modelled after the one used on the NSX GT3 Evo race car. Shaped to allow quick airflow through the centre section, the diffuser creates downforce. Additional fins help prevent wake effects from the tires when cornering, reducing the downforce in critical cornering maneuvers. The diffuser shape also shifts the negative pressure peak position toward the rear, helping to create a balanced downforce effect.

Inspired by the original NSX, the second-generation NSX interior is an ergonomic and driver-focused design that has been further elevated in the NSX Type S. Newly added are an Alcantara headliner, embroidered Type S logo on the glove compartment and embossed NSX logos on the headrests. The NSX Type S logo is found on the key fob.

Additional interior details include contrast stitching and three available Alcantara® and Semi-Aniline Leather combinations; Ebony, Orchid and Red. Full Semi-Aniline Leather seats in Ebony or Red are optional.

The NSX Type S starts at $169,500, while the NSX Type S with Lightweight Package starts at $182,500. It seems pretty challenging for those of you in Indonesia to get this latest edition of the NSX because most of it is sold in America, and only 50 units are made for the Japanese market.

Integra's Presence

On the same occasion, Honda announced the return of the Integra. The legendary nameplate, one of two models in the original product lineup when Acura launched on March 27, 1986, will rejoin the performance brand's product portfolio as a new compact premium entrant next year.

“The Integra is back,” said Ikeda. “I'm thrilled to say Integra is returning to the Acura lineup with the same fun-to-drive spirit and DNA of the original, fulfilling our commitment to Precision Crafted Performance in every way – design , performance and the overall driving experience.”

There is no further information about the presence of Integra because everything will be more transparent in 2022.
