If you are a fan of steak as well as varieties of beef dishes, you don't want to miss out on The Great Steak Escape. Like a steak festival, the event has returned for its second time in Jakarta throughout the month of March.

The event is held at the East parking lot of Senayan City Jakarta. During the event, it is found that all Australian red meat that enters Indonesia is Halal-certified, which caters to the country’s large Muslim population.

The Great Steak Escape is organized by True Aussie Beef & Lamb, a brand under Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) which originally intended to promote Australian beef, lamb, and goat meat. MLA itself is produced worldwide and aims to "foster the long-term prosperity of the Australian red meat and livestock industry".

“We want to invite Indonesians to explore beyond popular cuts of beef such as Sirloin and Tenderloin because there are many delicious cuts of meat that are less well-known but equally delicious,” Christian Haryanto, MLA Indonesia’s business development manager, said in a statement.

“We hope that expanding consumer knowledge of different cuts of meat will allow foodies to make every day extraordinary by treating themselves to quality meats and turn every meal into an indulgence.”

Participating restaurants
Under sections 60(1) and 60(2) of the Australian Meat and Live-stock Industry Act 1997, MLA promotes great taste, quality, and nutrition of Australian beef to Indonesian consumers.

This is the second year that The Great Steak Escape has been conducted. During the event, customers and foodies will embark on an "escape" to explore the various kinds of Australian meat, not only beef but also lamb and goat. The meats are prepared with different cooking methods and styles by executive chefs from typically top restaurants in Jakarta.

From this event, it hopes to support the foodservice industry impacted by the pandemic in the past two years. Additionally, while the industry is slowly recovering, the event envisioned that customers are able to revisit their favorite restaurants as well as explore other restaurants they are not familiar with.

Participating restaurants this year include Caspar Jakarta,  AMUZ Gourmet Restaurant, Cutt & Grill, Meatsmith Jakarta, SKYE Bar & Restaurant, Nara Senopati, Tucano’s Brazilian BBQ, William’s Casual Dining, as well as restaurants from 5-star hotels such as PA.SO.LA Restaurant at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta Pacific Place, Alto Restaurant & Bar at Four Seasons Jakarta, and  VIEW Steak Bar at Fairmont Jakarta

Special menu items from partnering restaurants include Wagyu Paella, Wagyu Rump Bites with Truffle Vinaigrette and Garlic Chips, 45 Days Dry Aged John Stone Irish Tomahawk, Australian Picanha & Prime Top Sirloin in Brazilian BBQ style, and Chuck Eye Roll Yakiniku, among other mouth-watering options.
