Songket has always been the fabric you save for weddings, not weekday errands. Buttonscarves wants to change that.

On August 13, 2026, Buttonscarves and Sarinah launched the Songket Collection, a scarf-and-apparel line that reworks the gold-threaded weaving tradition of songket into everyday modest fashion. The timing isn't random  the drop coincides with Indonesia's 81st Independence Day and Sarinah's 64th anniversary, and it's available now through Buttonscarves stores, the Buttonscarves app and website, and Sarinah Department Stores nationwide.

At a glance:

  • Launch date: August 13, 2026
  • Marks Indonesia's 81st Independence Day and Sarinah's 64th anniversary
  • Two signature motifs: Nona Manis and Pegunungan
  • Buttonscarves operates 50+ stores across Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and Turkey

What Is the Buttonscarves x Sarinah Songket Collection?

The collection is built around two motifs pulled from traditional songket weaving. Nona Manis leans into a rhythmic, geometric pattern meant to evoke warmth and togetherness. Pegunungan, which translates to "mountains," is designed around ideas of resilience and protection.

Both motifs are layered with Buttonscarves' signature "B" monogram  a small but deliberate move that plants the brand's contemporary identity directly inside a centuries-old craft, rather than just borrowing its aesthetic from a distance.

Sarinah isn't a random retail partner here, either. It sits inside InJourney, Indonesia's state-owned aviation and tourism group, which also runs InJourney Airports  the world's fifth-largest airport operator by passenger traffic. That means this collection has distribution muscle most heritage collaborations don't get.

Where Can You Actually Buy It?

The full range  scarves and apparel  is sold across Buttonscarves' own retail and digital channels, plus Sarinah Department Stores. But here's the detail worth knowing: selected apparel pieces and two exclusive colorways of the Songket Series are sold only at Sarinah, not through Buttonscarves' own stores or app.

If you want the full set, a Sarinah visit isn't optional.

How Much Does the Songket Collection Cost?

Buttonscarves hasn't published individual price points for the collection publicly. For exact pricing on scarves versus apparel pieces, the most reliable route right now is checking directly in-store or on the Buttonscarves app, since the range spans multiple product categories.

Why This Launch Is Bigger Than a Product Drop

Buttonscarves didn't just release a lookbook. The brand hosted a private trunk show on August 16, 2026, pulling together its community and Sarinah's longtime customers, and installed a dedicated display inside Sarinah so shoppers can see the craftsmanship up close instead of scrolling past it on a feed.

"Sarinah has long created a space for Indonesian craftsmanship and culture to be seen and appreciated," said Mifthahul Jannah, Creative Director of Buttonscarves. "Through this collaboration, we want to continue that journey by bringing wastra closer to the way women dress today."

That word  wastra, referring to Indonesia's traditional woven and dyed textiles  is doing a lot of work here. It's the same word used for batik, ikat, and songket alike, and Buttonscarves is betting that dressing it in modern silhouettes is what keeps it relevant to a 25-to-45-year-old audience that didn't grow up wearing it daily.

The counterintuitive part: songket is traditionally hand-loomed with actual gold or silver thread, historically reserved for royalty and ceremonial wear in Sumatra. Turning that into a scarf you'd throw on before a Monday meeting is, in itself, the story.
