ARCHIPELAGO BRINGS HOPE AND JOY TO CHILDREN WITH CANCER THROUGH ACCI IN YOGYAKARTA
Spreading Joy and Support: Archipelago’s Ongoing Commitment to Children with Cancer
Continuing its commitment to social responsibility, Archipelago, the largest hotel operator in Southeast Asia, recently extended its Archipelago Cancer Care Initiative (ACCI) to Yogyakarta. In collaboration with Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia (YKAKI), this initiative brought together seven Archipelago hotels to support children battling cancer, emphasizing not only financial assistance but also moments of joy and encouragement.
Having previously made an impact in Banjarmasin, Surabaya, Balikpapan, and Jakarta, the ACCI program in Yogyakarta marked another milestone in Archipelago’s ongoing efforts to give back to the community. More than just a donation drive, the event fostered meaningful connections between hotel employees, guests, and the children, creating an atmosphere of warmth and positivity.
A Month-Long Effort to Make a Difference
The fundraising campaign, which ran from December 27, 2024, to January 29, 2025, invited both hotel staff and guests to contribute through donations. Additionally, on January 19, 2025, a Sunday Morning Activity was organized, allowing visitors to purchase food and beverages from participating hotels, with all proceeds going directly to YKAKI. The funds were used to provide cash donations, educational supplies, art materials, and meal containers for the children.
Beyond financial contributions, the initiative also focused on creating joyful experiences for the young patients. Activities included a magic show by Om Badut, engaging games, and interactive workshops where children learned to make healthy juice and sandwiches under the guidance of Archipelago’s Executive Chefs and Food & Beverage team.
A Commitment to Bringing Hope
Speaking on the initiative, John Flood, CEO of Archipelago, emphasized the importance of offering not only financial support but also emotional encouragement to the children and their families.
“We are truly honored to support these brave children and bring a glimmer of hope into their lives. Providing care and attention to these children and their families is incredibly important, especially during such challenging times. YKAKI does an incredible job, and they rely on external support to continue making a difference. We are proud to contribute to this cause and hope our efforts bring happiness and comfort to those in need,” said John.
Through the ACCI program, Archipelago reinforces its dedication to making a positive social impact, inspiring others to take part in creating a better future for children in need.
