The Lanesborough was thrilled to announce its latest art collaboration with esteemed fine art photographer and artist, Ripley. From June 15th to June 17th, 2023, The Lanesborough's Great Hall exclusively showcased Ripley's twelve captivating large-scale portraits of the Household Cavalry. Following a successful display at Royal Ascot, the exhibition returned from June 26th to July 6th, 2023.

The extraordinary collection of images showcased soldiers from The Life Guards and the Blues and Royals, along with their majestic horses, against the backdrop of iconic London landmarks from Trafalgar Square to Canary Wharf. One particularly striking portrait depicted The Corporal Major of the Blues and Royals with the Sovereign's Standard, overlooking Wellington Arch and Apsley House, the London residence of The Duke of Wellington.

Art enthusiasts had the opportunity to purchase these remarkable prints individually (£19-25k) or as a complete collection (POA), including a boxed set of 12 prints at a smaller size. Notably, Ripley donated 50% of profits from these limited editions to The Household Cavalry Foundation, which is dedicated to the welfare of serving soldiers, veterans, and their dependents, as well as the preservation of the Cavalry's heritage and retired horses.

Ripley's artistic process involved working with high-resolution digital composite photography, resulting in large-scale prints that exhibited incredible detail and clarity. While his primary focus lay in capturing the spirit of Thoroughbred Racehorses, his technique paid homage to the mastery of equine painters while utilizing modern methods. Among his notable works was the portrait of 'Estimate,' which Ripley created for Queen Elizabeth II in 2016. 'Estimate,' owned by the late Queen, triumphed in the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot in 2013.

To celebrate this captivating collaboration, The Lanesborough hosted two exclusive ticketed events priced at £25 per person, offering attendees the chance to enjoy a private view of Ripley's masterpieces, indulge in Champagne and canapés, and personally meet the artist behind these unique works. The events took place on Thursday, June 15th, and Monday, June 26th, 2023, providing an intimate setting to engage with Ripley and gain insight into his inspiration.

This exceptional art collaboration between The Lanesborough and Ripley was a must-see for art enthusiasts and admirers of equestrian beauty. Visitors had the opportunity to witness these extraordinary portraits and support The Household Cavalry Foundation's noble cause.
