Indonesia’s National Olympic Committee (NOC) and the French Embassy came together to host a vibrant Olympic Day celebration in Jakarta, Saturday. The event, themed “Guarding the Red and White,” served not only as a festive gathering but also as a promotional platform for the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

The day kicked off with a 5K run for adults and a 3K run for teenagers, drawing participants from various walks of life who were eager to show their support for Indonesia’s athletes.

“This is a good partnership between the NOC and the French Embassy in Indonesia,” said NOC Indonesia Chairman Raja Sapta Oktohari, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the two organizations.

In addition to the run, the celebration featured Mini Olympic Games, showcasing a range of sports including athletics, archery, basketball, football, and rugby. Participants competed in events such as the 60-meter sprint, 4x60-meter relay, and archery with both standard and recurve bows. The event also brought in some unique demonstrations and exhibitions, including cornhole, parkour, and a fascinating robotics showcase.

As the Paris Olympics draw nearer, Oktohari provided an update on Indonesia’s preparations. “We are focused on ensuring athletes who have qualified are ready for acclimatization in Paris. Some have already departed,” he noted, emphasizing the committee’s dedication to supporting the nation’s top athletes.

Oktohari further reiterated NOC Indonesia’s commitment to overcoming any challenges that may arise, ensuring the athletes are in prime condition to perform at their best on the world stage. “Our top priority is to ensure optimal performance from our qualified athletes,” he concluded.

The Olympic Day celebration not only energized participants but also reinforced Indonesia’s readiness and determination to excel in Paris, showcasing the strong partnership between Indonesia and France in the spirit of the Olympic Games.
