BLACKPINK'S JENNIE FACE OF CHANEL'S GLOBAL CAMPAIGN 'COCO NEIGE'
The K-Pop sensation continues her collaboration with the French brand.
Jennie from BLACKPINK is the face of Chanel's Coco Neige 2021 campaign, shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin.
"Just hearing about being able to join the 'Coco Neige' collection was like a dream," Jennie said during the campaign shoot. "I love to go out in the snow, doing winter sports. I really like how snow just makes you feel. Wearing these clothes makes me feel like I'm ready to ski tomorrow."
Jennie has been a long-time admirer of Chanel and is also its brand ambassador. She has modeled for the French label since 2017, appeared front row at Paris Fashion Week, and walked on red carpets.
She earned the title "Human Chanel" from her fans since she was usually seen wearing the double C logo in public. Her laidback, streetwear and even airport fashion choices help the brand appear more approachable, stylish, and captivating to a younger audience that would never choose a traditional tweed jacket as a must-have fashion item.
Reflecting her passion for Chanel, Jennie started modeling for the brand and eventually became its brand ambassador, particularly for Chanel Beauty in Korea. She did her first editorial with the brand for Harper's Bazaar Korea in 2018. This landed her front-row seats at Paris Fashion Week, numerous more Chanel-filled Instagram pictures, stage performances for the singer, and even a rare opportunity to visit Coco Chanel's former house.
The Chanel Coco Neige collection, which combines high-tech clothes with winter ready-to-wear, debuted in 2018, designed by Karl Lagerfeld and personified by Margot Robbie. Since then, the line has redefined the outdoor winter wardrobe with new volumes, a distinctive chain accent, and layered textures and patterns.
"I find it amazing to see how Virginie Viard brought elegance into ski wear," Jennie said. "I think Virginie Viard creates for many different women and has a different story to every collection that she makes."
The collection is inspired by winter sportswear and iconic Chanel decorations, expressing the Chanel house's masculine-meets-feminine attitude. It offers knitted casual suits, dispersed vests, ski suits, overalls, sweaters, down jackets with Chanel emblems, and fleece jackets.
The Coco Neige collection comes with multifunctional accessories, such as a handbag that can be worn on the waist or draped around the neck, and a compact wallet that can be connected to the hand, to make sure you enjoy the winter season with such coziness.
The campaign incorporates snow, ski, and sports imagery by Dutch photographer pair Inez & Vinoodh.
Chanel's logo, camellias, flowered on both the garments and accessories of the Coco Neige collection. They are embellished with bows, head ornaments, and camellia designs similar to those seen on vests and warm, casual coats. Chanel varied the typical black and white hues for the new season with vivid pink and red.
In the campaign's photos, Jennie delivered such unassuming simplicity on the function and style of this winter sporting line, dressed in a two-piece hot pink suit accentuated with print motifs underneath a long puffer coat and equipped with the brand's body chain, earrings, and an asymmetrical necklace.
Following Coco Neige's campaign, Chane has enlisted the K-pop singer for its fine jewelry line, Coco Crush.
Jennie overlays Chanel's silver rings in a range of sizes in the teaser image. The designer items are complemented with black nails and the star's no-makeup look, which is enriched with winged eyeliner.
A black-and-white photograph of the K-pop singer sporting a tweed jacket is shown beside the preceding black-and-white image. Some of Chanel's most popular accessories, such as gold and silver earrings, rings, and necklaces in the distinctive Coco Crush quilted design, complete the ensemble.
The Pavé Diamond Ring, a white gold design strewn with diamonds for a snowy impression, completes her look.
Jennie's Chanel Coco Crush campaign will be fully revealed in January 2022.
