As we bid adieu to May, we welcome a slew of events that scream “Summer!” We’ve shortlisted five events we are definitely excited to attend, and that’s the beauty of Jakarta; we never run out, and there’s always something for everyone. Read on and see which events have the highest chance of us bumping into each other.

Playboox 2024

For those of you who are into music, Playboox 2024 may be the more amiable option of the two concerts on this list. This year, Echosmith and The Fray are gracing the stage at Indonesia Arena, Gelora Bung Karno, on June 8. The two world-class bands don’t need an introduction, bringing their favorite songs that have been a staple for our playlist since they debuted several years ago. After all, who can forget singing our lungs out in high school to Echosmith’s “Cool Kids” and crying our eyes out watching Grey’s Anatomy while singing “How to Save a Life” by the Fray? Ah, simpler times.

Pet Fest Indonesia

Dogs and rabbits and sugar gliders, oh my! Calling all pawrents, Pet Fest Indonesia will be held at ICE BSD from June 21 to 23. A collaboration between USS, International Creative Event (ICE) and Hyde Park, the place is guaranteed to be filled with the animal kingdom and present a series of inspiring activities, such as the Pet Exhibition, Workshop, Grooming Demo, Fun Talk, and Coaching Clinic. With all the cute animals, don’t sleep in on the equally amazing humans scheduled to appear at the event: Korean pet stylist Lee Hyun Ae, and the dog whisperer himself, Cesar Milan.

P-LAND: K-Pop Art Market Vol.3

Experience the best parts of Korean pop culture on June 22 and 23 at The Krakatau, Taman Mini. P-LAND is back and bigger than ever this year. How do you like that? The two-day extravaganza will present a chance to connect with local and international fan artists and creators of the K-Pop community, giving you the ultimate BTS access to the cutest merchandise on the market. Of course, no event would be complete without interesting activities such as Experience Booths, Art Installations, Community Stages, and various collaborative projects. So be sure to put on some New Jeans and stop by to get your K-Pop fix.

Scent of Indonesia

No, we’re not talking about the carbon monoxide and the burning of trash in your neighborhood, though these are the real aroma of home. The last weekend of June will bring more than 50 fragrance brands to Chillax Sudirman for the very first local fragrance market in Indonesia. Entitled Scent of Indonesia, the place will be overflowing with perfumes, body care items, and home fragrances from local brands you know and love. Starting from 10 a.m., the event will also feature F&B tenants, installations, music performances, and more. At Rp 30,000 a ticket, give your nose some much-needed scentsation and see you there!

Walk Indies Walking Tours

Jakarta is generally not the most walkable city, but we say everyone should at least experience one adventure with Walkindies. Amateur historians and time travelers, this one's for you. Walkindies Travel was established based on the love of rich Indonesian history and as a bid to further promote tourism in our lovely city. Offering tours in Indonesian and English, their expert tour guides will open your eyes in a whole new way, re-introducing Jakarta and its culture within a day. With a variety of themes, next month’s list includes a walking and angkot (minibus) tour entitled “Robin Hood van Betawi” around Tanjung Priok and Cilinting, a “Queen of the East” walking tour around old Batavia, and even an island-hopping tour called “Dutchmen in Thousand Islands”.
