Renowned Indonesian actress Raline Shah graced the Cinema of Indonesia event at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, an initiative by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendikbud) and the Indonesian Film Producers Association (APROFI). This program aims to introduce Indonesian cinema to the global market, showcasing the nation's rich cinematic talent.

"My presence at this event is to provide support to the Indonesian film industry which is increasingly proud of its extraordinary film works, even winning various world awards," Raline Shah expressed in a press release received by Tempo. The 39-year-old actress emphasized the importance of Indonesian films gaining recognition in the international arena and expressed her pride in being part of this cultural movement.

A Celebration of Indonesian Fashion

Raline Shah made a stunning appearance in traditional Indonesian attire, wearing a bespoke beskap designed by Sapto Djojokartiko and batik cloth from the Iwan Tirta Private Collection. The motif of The Pisan Bali Borobudur, inspired by the beauty and spiritual wisdom of the Borobudur Temple, adorned her attire, complemented by a bag from L'alingi. This fashion statement not only highlighted Indonesian culture but also brought a touch of elegance to the global stage.

Third Appearance at Cannes

This year marked Raline Shah's third attendance at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. Apart from supporting Indonesian cinema, she attended the premiere of "Kinds of Kindness" by acclaimed director Yorgos Lanthimos, featuring Emma Stone. Raline Shah shared her excitement and gratitude for being part of such a diverse and enriching film festival.

"My third appearance at the Cannes Film Festival is to become part of the film industry ecosystem and become a 'student' again. At this festival, I really enjoyed the process of learning so much from very experienced industry players, watching many films participating in the festival which were very well curated," she said. Her participation underscores her commitment to continuous learning and growth within the film industry.

International Representation

Raline Shah's presence at Cannes was also due to an invitation from her Los Angeles-based artist management, Artist International Group, led by David Unger. Under this management, Raline Shah has shared the stage with over 200 world-renowned artists, including Michelle Yeoh, Saïd Taghmaoui, and Siwon Choi. Her international representation speaks volumes about her talent and the global appeal of Indonesian artists.

As Raline Shah continues to shine on international platforms, her contributions significantly elevate the profile of Indonesian cinema and culture, inspiring countless talents in her homeland and beyond.
